Welcome to my blog! I hope that you find all of the posted information useful and important to your child's education. I am passionate about getting you all involved in your child's education and understanding how children develop their literacy skills.
The first thing I would like to inform you about is how important you are to your child's literacy development. Children first understand literacy by listening and copying what they see around them. Children will often repeat what they hear. They will learn when to say things based on when they hear them.
Children love to read signs all around "their world". Children will often ask adults questions such as "what is that?" and "what does that say?" because they are curious to understand more about the world and their part in it.
The best thing you can do for your child is to read to them everywhere you are. You do not need to have ten extra hours in your day, we all know life can be crazy. If you are at the store you can read labels to the children. If you are at the park you can show them posted signs and words that you see. This will help your child's early literacy development tremendously.
Until next time,
Ms. Macon
